The Zodiac

The zodiac is an imaginary belt that follows the ecliptic which is the apparent path of the sun around the earth. The Zodiac is used with a measurement system of a 360° circle divided by 12 equals segments of 30°each.  Imagine 12 slices of a large pizza, we call each slice a house.  Each house has a sign assigned to it, sometimes two or three signs can occupy the same house depending the place on Earth, the month, day and hour of your birth.

These segments are named after the constellations or signs that overlaps the zodiac.   So Instead of saying something like the sun was at 53 degrees of the ecliptic the day you were born, we say that the sun was at 23 degree of Taurus, meaning that the sun stayed 30 days first in Aries, each day representing a degree, then it moved to the 23rd degree of Taurus which is the exact degree the sun was on the day you were born.

The astrological chart is a 360 degrees circle. Each degree tells you the exact degree and placement sector of all the planets, moon and stars, at the same time in the zodiac on the day you were born.  Each celestial moving body, travels around the zodiac in one, two, seven years  cycle or  even longer. 

The Sun signs

There are 12 signs in the zodiac.  Each one represents thirty days and few hours (since there are 365 days in a year) the sun spends in each constellation. Thus, depending on the season or time of the year and the rotations of the earth around the sun. Each sign is gifted a different weather, yet all in harmony so that each one will embody the colors and particular effects of that monthly sign.  Astrologically, we align with these effects be it, physical, mental or spiritual, in our daily inner or outer life and the life of those around us Each monthly sun sign colors people, animals, plants, stars, planet, with different daily habits, effects, movements and impulses This is why when someone says I am Aries, astrologers dressed them with similar qualities as that season

Sun signs

Aries - Fire sign.   Mar 21 - April 19.  

Born in the birth of Spring.  You may inherit similar qualities of life particular to spring. Enthusiastic   to start new projects, new adventures. Aries are hunters, pioneers.  They can be confident, fearless, courageous. They are physically strong like the Ram and well built, as athletes.

They are motivator that inspires others to begin an exercise programs or a new diet. They also love building homes. Negatively, they lack patience, argue and compete.  They do not always  finish what they start they jump before they look down, so can be prone to accidents.

Patient, and reliable, loving and warmhearted, persistent, determined

Communicators, versatile, adaptable, witty, logical.  Negatively they are tense, inquisitive, superficial,

Cancer - Water sign.    June 21 - July 21

Caring, nurturing, home, family and comfort oriented. Appears tough on the outside but vulnerable inside when threatened.  Cancer is very protective of his friends and family when particularly emotional

Leo - Fire sign.  July 21- Aug 21`

Leos are warm hearted. There sunny personality shines around others.  Loving attention and an audience, they like to be a center stage. They are Enthusiastic, generous, playful and fun, and love children. They can be aggressive and Drama oriented.

Virgo, Earth sign. Aug 22 – Sep 22

 Virgos are analytic with a keen mind, detail oriented and love order in household.  Virgo excels in data and scientific or health research, as they are well organized and can concentrate well. They are service oriented and are appreciated for their executive abilities.

Libra - Air sign.   Sep 23 – Oct 23

Libra love peace and harmony to keep a balanced life particularly in relationship.  Their love for justice and fairness in interpersonal relationships are important as they always see the other side of the story.  They are good and diplomatic mediators between others.   Artistic talents often feature in their person’s life

Scorpio - Water sign.   Oct 24 - Nov 21
